Background

The Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory is a not-for-profit laboratory that is owned and operated by the University of California at San Francisco, one of the country’s premiere academic and research institutions. The laboratory was established in 1981 in the School of Medicine to provide specialized diagnostic services for allogeneic transplantation and to conduct related research. Currently, the laboratory provides support for blood, bone marrow, kidney, pancreas, liver, heart, lung, small bowel, and cornea transplantation. The Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory is a national reference laboratory and serves as the referee laboratory for the ASHI proficiency testing program. The laboratory serves as a core laboratory for the NIH Immune Tolerance Network and provides support for several national clinical trials.
